Module A-S4

Test-Taking & Exam Strategy

This module shifts the focus from what students know to how they deploy it under exam pressure. Learners practise weighted time allocation, triage, educated elimination, and the discipline of flagging and returning to difficult items. They also structure answers for high-mark questions using frameworks such as STAR and brain-dumps, and run disciplined post-mortems to attack careless-error patterns. By the end, learners sit any paper with a repeatable protocol.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Allocate exam time in proportion to question marks.
2.
Triage questions and sequence them to maximise marks per minute.
3.
Use flag-and-return discipline instead of grinding on a single item.
4.
Eliminate distractors in MCQs using systematic criteria.
5.
Adjust strategy appropriately when negative marking is in force.
6.
Distinguish open-book from closed-book preparation requirements.
7.
Structure behavioural and essay answers using STAR and PEEL.
8.
Run exam post-mortems to classify and reduce careless-error patterns.
